Privacy Policy - AcrossTime

Last Updated: January 6, 2025

Our Privacy Commitment

Your Privacy Matters. AcrossTime is designed with privacy at its core. All your data stays on your device. We don't collect, transmit, or store any of your personal information on external servers.

AcrossTime is a privacy-first world clock application. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data—or more accurately, how it doesn't handle it, because everything stays local to your device.

Data Storage & Usage

What Data Is Stored Locally

AcrossTime stores the following information only on your device:

  • Selected Cities & Timezones: The cities and timezones you add to your world clock list

  • Display Preferences: Your chosen color theme, high contrast mode, and display settings

  • Workday Hours: Your configured work hours (start and end times) for overlap visualization

  • Analog Clock Settings: Auto-reset preference, hand snap behavior, and minute display options

  • Default Tap States: Your preferred information display for city pills (city name, timezone, UTC offset, or local time)

  • Overlap Style: Your chosen overlap visualization style (Dual Rings, Subtle Arcs, or Radial Beams)

  • Alarms: Any timezone-based alarms you create, stored locally for notification scheduling

How Data Is Stored

All app data is stored using:

  • iOS UserDefaults & AppStorage: Standard iOS frameworks for local preference storage

  • App Group Container: For secure data sharing between the iOS app and watchOS companion (when available), without exposing data outside the app ecosystem

This data never leaves your device and is not synchronized to any cloud service unless you use iCloud backup (which is controlled by your iOS settings, not by AcrossTime).

Permissions

Notifications

If you create alarms within AcrossTime, the app will request permission to send you local notifications. These notifications are:

  • Scheduled and delivered entirely on your device

  • Not sent through any external server

  • Cancelable at any time through iOS Settings or within the app

You can revoke notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings → AcrossTime → Notifications.

No Other Permissions Required

AcrossTime does not request or require:

  • Location access

  • Camera or photo library access

  • Microphone access

  • Contact access

  • Calendar access

  • Health data access

What We Don't Collect

AcrossTime does not collect, transmit, or store:

  • Personal information: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or identifiable information

  • Usage analytics: We don't track how you use the app, which features you access, or how often you use them

  • Location data: The app uses timezone data based on cities you manually select, not your physical location

  • Device identifiers: No advertising IDs, device fingerprints, or tracking mechanisms

  • Crash reports: No automatic crash or diagnostic data collection

Simple Rule: If you didn't explicitly put it in the app, we don't have it. If you did put it in the app, it stays on your device.

Third-Party Services

AcrossTime does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external APIs. The app is completely self-contained and operates entirely offline (internet connectivity is not required).

Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

  • Delete Cities: Swipe left on any city in your list to remove it

  • Reset All Cities: Use "Reset to Current Timezone Only" in Settings to clear your entire list

  • Delete Alarms: Swipe left on any alarm to remove it

  • Uninstall the App: Deleting AcrossTime from your device removes all locally stored data permanently

Children's Privacy

AcrossTime does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app does not require account creation, personal information, or any form of registration.

Apple Watch Companion

When AcrossTime for Apple Watch becomes available, data will be synchronized between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple's secure app group mechanism. This synchronization happens locally between your paired devices and does not involve any external servers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and notify users within the app. Continued use of AcrossTime after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
